The robust bulkhead lamp was designed for Harlang & Dreyer in knock proof die-cast synthetic material. The function of switching on and off is simplified as the lamp is just opened and closed. Thus, you can easily see when it is switched off, even in daylight, and save electricity at sea. Erik Magnussen managed to bring the lamp down to an absolute minimum of only 3 parts being easily clipped together.
It was awarded the ID prize by The Danish Design Council in 1988.
